But once you look past the surface, they're built for genuinely different trips, and picking the wrong one is the easiest way to end up disappointed with an otherwise good destination. Travel Time & Access

Both islands are reachable from Singapore by ferry, but the logistics differ enough to shape the whole trip. Batam is served by two terminals, arbourFront and Tanah Merah, with crossings of roughly 45–60 minutes, and a high enough frequency of daily sailings (often 25+ combined departures each way) that a genuine day trip is realistic without much advance planning. This flexibility is a big part of why Batam works so well for spontaneous weekend plans.

Bintan, by contrast, is reached only via Tanah Merah, with a single dedicated route to Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT), the terminal built specifically for the Bintan Resorts area in Lagoi. The crossing itself takes around 60 minutes, not dramatically longer than Batam, but with fewer daily sailings and a resort area a further drive from the terminal, Bintan is a touch less convenient for a same-day round trip.
